Music Mixing Services
Professional stereo mixing for vocal tracks,
grouped stems and full multi-track sessions.
Popular with artists who are writing over pre-mixed and leased beats. A budget-friendly option when you have all the music contained in one track - a single stereo file. Your vocal layers are then mixed into the beat, which is why this approach is known as a ‘Vocal Mix’. Pre-mixed (single stereo file) beats are cheaper to lease and buy than stems or ‘track-outs’, and songs using pre-mixed beats take less time to mix. The overall quality and direction of the mix is limited by the quality and tone of the pre-mix. A great starting point for new and developing artists.
includes:
Creative multi-track vocal mixing with effects
Pre-mixed beat enhancement
Mix revisions
Mastering for digital distribution
Popular with music producers who are selling beats, and artists who self-produce. Artists may find that beats or productions purchased as ‘track-outs’ are delivered this way. Grouped stems allows the producer to retain their overall sound and balance, while allowing for an experienced mixing engineer to sonically enhance the mix and push the boundaries of the stereo image.
A typical example of a grouped stem is to have all the drum parts - i.e. Kick, Snare & Hats - combined into a single audio file. You may have 3 to 8 grouped stems, or more depending on the complexity of the musical arrangement.
Includes:
Grouped stem mixing - optional creative multi-track vocal mixing with effects
Mix revisions
Mastering for digital distribution
Individual audio file mixing allows an experienced mixing engineer to enhance each individual sound for a huge - wide and deep - stereo image. Maximum movement, exquisite detail and clarity. Endless possibilities. The global standard for competitive top-tier music. Great for club tracks and festival-ready performance tracks. [Multi-track mixing allows for pitch correction and rearrangement where necessary.]
includes:
Multi-track creative instrument and vocal mixing with sound design and effects

Online Attended Mixing
& Tweak Sessions
Whether you are based elsewhere in Australia, overseas, or you simply want to be part of the mix process in real time, I also offer attended online sessions using LANDR Sessions. I send you a private link so you can listen in high quality from your home studio setup, laptop or headphones while I work on your mix from my studio, and we can also connect by video during the session for clear, real-time communication.
This is ideal for clients who want live input during the mix, or for handling mix tweaks together after an unattended mix has already been completed, without the back-and-forth of long email revision notes.
Online attended sessions are quoted based on the scope of the work and the time required. If you only need feedback or final mix tweaks, this can often be booked separately after an unattended mix package has already been completed.

What is Stereo mixing?
Mixing for 2 channels of audio - left and right, just as you have a left and right speaker. A sound source hitting your ears from both channels at the same time creates a ‘phantom centre’ - the phenomenon of sound appearing to come from directly in front on you. Different information can be sent to each channel, allowing the positioning of a sound source to appear to come from anywhere within the ‘stereo image’ - the 180 degree front wall of sound, formed ear to ear, that we experience as having size and dimension from floor to ceiling, left wall to right wall, and depth from back wall to right in front of you - like a 3D mural of sound. When stereo mixing is done well it fills the stereo image, pushing these sonic boundaries. It is an art form - equal parts intricate technical work and creativity. A stacking of knowledge passed down from mentor to mentee. A coalescence of humanity and technology developed through a century of innovation.

Yes, a large part of my work is mixing vocals recorded at home into leased or purchased beats. As long as your vocal files are exported cleanly as separate WAVs, I can work with recordings from any home setup. If you're unsure about your recording quality, send me a rough export and I'll give you honest feedback before you book.
-
No. Unattended mixes are delivered remotely to clients anywhere in Australia or overseas, you send your files, I mix and master at the studio in Ultimo, and you receive your finished master with revisions included. If you want to be part of the process, online attended sessions let you listen in from wherever you are.
-
I mix in Pro Tools, but it doesn't matter what you record in. Whether you use Logic, FL Studio, Ableton, GarageBand or anything else, you simply export your tracks as WAV files and I take it from there. When you book, I'll send you a short export guide for your DAW.

Mixing balances and shapes all the individual elements of your song, vocals, instruments, effects, into one cohesive record. Mastering is the final polish on that finished mix, setting the overall tone and loudness so it translates properly on streaming platforms, headphones, cars and club systems. Every mix at Safe House Studios includes mastering, so you never have to arrange them separately.

Yes, vocal tuning is part of the creative vocal mixing included in every option, using Auto-Tune Pro and Melodyne depending on what the performance needs. That covers everything from transparent pitch correction to the obvious tuned vocal effect if that's the sound you're after.
-
Yes. Every master is delivered at competitive loudness for streaming, checked against how each platform plays back audio, so your record holds up next to commercial releases without distortion or squashed dynamics.

You receive your final mixed and mastered WAV file, ready to upload to your distributor. If you need extras like clean versions, performance versions or instrumentals, let me know at the start and I'll quote them with the job. Stem exports of the finished mix are also available as a paid add-on.

Yes. Most of my work is hip hop, R&B and pop vocal records, but across 20+ years I've mixed everything from boom bap to commercial pop to club and festival tracks. The approach is always the same, the record should sound like the best version of what you made, not like someone else's song.
