FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Recording sessions start from AU$79 per hour with a 2-hour minimum booking. This includes the studio and hands-on support from an experienced engineer, so you're not just hiring a room, you're working with someone who guides the session.
-
Yes, every recording session includes an engineer. Sessions are typically led by Espa, Safe House Studios' main engineer and creative lead, who handles the technical side and supports your performance so you can focus on delivering your best take.
-
You can record vocals, voiceovers, podcasts, spoken word, narration, acoustic guitar, electric guitar (DI), bass (DI) and overdubs. The studio is a treated control-room environment best suited to vocal-focused and production-based sessions, and podcast or voiceover sessions can support up to 3 voices at once.
-
No, Safe House Studios is not set up for full band tracking or acoustic drum recording. The studio is a purpose-built control room designed for vocals, overdubs, singer-songwriter sessions and modern production workflows. If your project needs live drums, a larger tracking room would suit you better.
-
No, mixing and mastering are separate services. After your recording session, you can book an unattended Vocal Mix + Master from AU$240, or sit in on an attended mixing session at AU$79 per hour. Many clients book the recording online first, then arrange the mix afterwards.
-
Most vocal sessions for a single song take around 2 hours, which is also the minimum booking. If you're recording multiple songs, doubling vocals heavily, or want time to experiment, 3 to 4 hours gives you more breathing room. If you're unsure, get in touch before booking and we'll help you work out the right length.
-
No, first-time artists are welcome. The studio is set up to be a comfortable, low-pressure environment, and plenty of clients have told us it's the first place they felt relaxed enough to actually perform. What matters more than experience is preparation, arrive with your lyrics finished and your song well practiced.
-
Come with your instrumental as a high-quality WAV file, your lyrics finished, and your song practiced until you know it inside out. Preparation is the single biggest factor in how much you get done in your booked time. If you're recording a podcast or voiceover, have your script or run sheet finalised before you arrive.
-
Safe House Studios is in Ultimo, Sydney, a short walk from the CBD and Broadway, with public transport close by. The studio is easy to reach from the Inner West and the city.
-
Parking at the studio is available for bookings from 6pm on weekdays, and all day on weekends.
